Rewire Your
Co-Parenting
Stress Response

Before You Listen...

Prime Your Nervous System To Optimise Results

Before you listen, take a moment to prepare your mind and body.
This step isn’t optional - it’s part of the neuroscience behind why the effectiveness of any kind of mental rehearsal, hypnosis or guided meditation.

When your nervous system is primed before mental rehearsal, the brain is far more able to:
•    Shift out of threat mode
•    Absorb new patterns of thinking
•    Build the neural pathways that support calmer co-parenting

Rehearsing a different future is beginning of change.

Your 60-Second Warm-Up

Take one minute to recall a genuine moment of gratitude — not a list, not general appreciation, but a story of genuine warmth from being appreciated:

A moment when:
•   Someone thanked you genuinely OR
•   You witnessed gratitude between others (and this could be from a movie)

Write down two short notes:

  1. What did the difficult moment feel like before the experience that caused gratitude?

  2. What shifted after? What made it meaningful and impactful?

Then pause for a breath or two and feel that story — not as words, but as sensation.

Why is this such an important priming exercise?

Because gratitude rooted in story changes the brain’s physiology:

•  Your threat system quietens
•  Your approach circuits turn on
•  Your nervous system softens towards safety

This puts your brain into the ideal state for the mental rehearsal or hypnosis to be most effective.
